SAGINAW - More than 50 young men from across the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw joined their parents and pastors last Thursday for a Holy Hour evening with the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw.

The evening of prayer, sponsored by the Office of Vocations, took place at St. Thomas Aquinas in Saginaw and was followed by a meal and program at the Center for Ministry.

During the prayer service, Bishop Cistone told the young men who were gathered that listening for God’s calling is a lot like playing a game of Golf ; one needs to concentrate on what he is doing because even the sound of a twig snapping can be distracting.

There are so many distractions in the world, that it can be hard to hear God’s voice, Bishop Cistone said.

Bishop Cistone also thanked parents for supporting their sons by participating in the Vocation-focused Holy Hour.

The July 28 Holy Hour also marked the second anniversary of Bishop Cistone’s installation as the sixth Bishop of Saginaw and the seventh anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
