SAGINAW — On Friday, July 18, youth from across the Diocese of Saginaw will gather for the first ever “Teen Tent Revival.” The event will include Mass celebrated by Rev. Tony Ricard at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 18. Father Tony is a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans who first energized and inspired area teens at the MYE Faith youth event in 2013. The “Teen Tent Revival” also will include games, a bonfire, food, singing and more. The following day, attendees will join thousands of other youth at the separate event Rock the Island Festival, Michigan’s largest one-day Christian music event held on Ojibway Island in Saginaw. In addition to the “Teen Tent Revival,” Father Tony will also take the stage during the Rock the Island Festival.

“The response for the Teen Tent Revival has been great,” said Carin Owen, who coordinates youth ministry at Ss. Peter & Paul Parish and St. Stephen Parish. “I hope this becomes an annual event.”

“It will be great to travel with a group of youth from our diocese to Rock the Island,” said Mark Graveline, director of youth ministry for the Diocese of Saginaw. “Pope Francis, like his predecessors, is encouraging loving cooperation with fellow Christians. These events give us special opportunities to celebrate the joy of Jesus Christ together with our Christian brothers and sisters.”

All youth are invited to attend the “Teen Tent Revival” which is offered free of charge, although donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of dinner and breakfast. Attendees are also asked to bring their own tents.

Rock the Island is free for anyone aged 21 and under. Those interested in attending the Teen Tent Revival may contact Carin Owen at 989-799-2334.
