Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw. “Although I do not know Bishop-Elect Walkowiak personally, I am pleased that the new bishop is from our episcopal region of Michigan-Ohio. I look forward to knowing Bishop-Elect Walkowiak better and working closely with him to address the spiritual needs of the faithful here in our local region, as well as across the country through the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. I extend to him my prayerful congratulations and support, as well as warm greetings from the people of the Diocese of Saginaw.

“At this same time, I wish to express to Bishop Hurley my admiration and gratitude for his many contributions to the Church. We bishops of Michigan share a strong, fraternal relationship with each other and I have come to appreciate Bishop Hurley’s kindness, pastoral leadership and administrative giftedness. I wish to assure him of my continued prayers and friendship as he enters this new phase of his ministry and life.  I hope he can enjoy some well-deserved free time and relaxation.”
