Bishop Hebda"I was pleased to learn of the Holy Father’s appointment of Bishop Bernard Hebda as the Coadjutor Archbishop of Newark, New Jersey," said the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw. "The Diocese of Gaylord will certainly miss him as their loving shepherd. I have come to regard Bishop Hebda as a good friend and have enjoyed the opportunity to work with him for the well-being of the Church in Michigan. While I am sorry to see him leave our wonderful Province, especially after such a short period of time, I can understand that our Holy Father sees in him great talent, administrative abilities to assume the duties of a large metropolitan archdiocese, and a warm pastoral style of leadership.

Archbishop John Myers, his Auxiliary Bishops, and all the faithful of the Archdiocese of Newark are extremely blessed in Bishop Hebda’s appointment and will quickly come to realize what a great gift he is to their local Church. I extend to Bishop Hebda my prayerful support as he assumes his new role among the people of Newark."
