SAGINAW – The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw’s Center for Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., in Saginaw has announced its calendar of retreats and enrichment opportunities for 2012-2013 — a year which Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed the Year of Faith.
“I am very pleased to announce the presenters who have agreed to be part of this year’s line-up,” said Dr. Dan Osborn, Director of the Center for Ministry. “In particular, we are blessed to offer an enrichment opportunity led by the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone. He will join us on October 27 to speak about a topic very close to his heart – the Holy Eucharist.”
Other highlights during the year include a September 22 offering on “dealing with change” facilitated by Tom Conklin, Executive Director of Catholic Family Service. “This is an important session to offer to our entire community as the diocese continues the work of Planning Tomorrow’s Parishes,” Osborn added. “And given the importance the Church is giving to the New Evangelization, we are grateful that Sister Ann Shields will be here in March to lead a mini-retreat on this theme.”
To commemorate the Year of Faith — which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council — Dr. Osborn and his wife, LeAnne, will lead a Faith Study evening called "Into the Deep" on the first Wednesday of each month from October to May. It is not necessary to attend every study sessions; individuals are invited to attend some or all.
