SAGINAW — Several upcoming events sponsored or hosted by parishes of the Diocese of Saginaw are listed below:

WHAT: Tony Alonso Concert and Workshop

WHEN: Concert- 7 p.m. on Friday, September 27
Workshop- “Called To New Visions”- 9 a.m.–noon on Saturday, September 28

WHERE: Holy Spirit Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Saginaw

Tony Alonso is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary liturgical music. 

Concert tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door ($5 for children 12 and under). Workshop tickets are $15 at the door. More information is available here

WHAT: "First Saturday" Mass and Devotions

WHEN: Noon on September 7 (Confessions begin at 11:00 a.m. and Rosary begins at 11:30 a.m.)

WHERE: Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington, Saginaw

The World Apostolate of Fatima will be sponsoring a "First Saturday" Mass at Holy Family Church in Saginaw. Confessions will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the Rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m.

WHAT: Discussion of C.S. Lewis' “Mere Christianity”

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 22

WHERE: Holy Spirit Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Saginaw

The forum will be led by Rosemary Kohut (reachable at 989-790-1883) and Gwen Fick (reachable at 989-781-2928). Participants should read the book ahead of time, taking notes on points they find of particular interest. Later sessions will deal with connections between Lewis' Narnia series and the Catholic religion.

The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw was established by Pope Pius XI on February 26, 1938. Today, it includes 6,955 square miles across Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Sanilac, Saginaw and Tuscola counties.
