SAGINAW — The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, today announced Mark Landra will serve as Director of the Diocese of Saginaw Catholic Cemeteries. He will begin his duties on February 8.

“I am so honored and blessed to have been selected for this position,” Landra said. “I look forward to working together with the cemetery staff to serve our diocese and parish families during the very important times of honoring deceased loves ones.” Landra gained extensive professional experience in staff development, management and customer service during the nearly 30 years he spent working in the airline industry. He also has experience working as a financial adviser. Landra holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.

Landra is a resident of Saginaw and a member of St. Matthew Parish in Zilwaukee, where he serves as a cantor, lector and a member of the Youth Group Advisory Council. He is currently in his second year as a candidate in the diocesan Lay Ministry Program. Additionally, he has served in leadership positions for Rotary Club of Saginaw, Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and Saginaw Art Museum.

The search for a cemeteries director began following the retirement of former director, Ken Groya, in the summer of 2012. Landra will be responsible for overseeing operations of the Diocese of Saginaw Catholic Cemeteries Office.
