SAGINAW — Just in time before Thanksgiving, the Diocese of Saginaw is offering a day-long wellness retreat that is open to all. The retreat will include sessions on how to simplify life, make healthy choices, and find time to pray and reflect. The “Wellness Retreat: For a Joyful Heart, Healthy Body and Inner Peace” will begin with registration and Mass at 8:30 a.m. on November 19, at the diocesan Center for Ministry. The day will conclude at 5:00 p.m.
Participants will learn from wellness coach Molly Morrissey, MBA, and nurse practitioner, Jean Thiele, MSN, who have been focusing on their personal health and the health of their families for the past 25 years. Together, they have come up with creative ways to exercise, make healthy choices, reduce stress, simplify schedules, pray and reflect to move toward a life of balance. Sister Yvonne Mary Loucks, RSM, Ph.D. has recently joined the team to enhance the theological and spiritual aspect of wellness by drawing upon Blessed John Paul’s Theology of the Body.
“God wants us to live our life abundantly and to have inner peace, well-being and happiness. We do this by becoming balanced in the emotional, physical and spiritual realms of our lives,” Thiele said.
During the day, retreat participants will be given an opportunity to reflect on their own lives and determine where they would like to be, spiritually and physically. The day will involve many hands-on activities designed to promote wellness and balance, ending with a quiet time of reflection to develop a personal health vision.
The cost of the wellness retreat is $45 and includes lunch. For more information, or to register for this retreat, call the Center for Ministry at 989-797-6607.
