There were more than 150 faithful from across the Diocese of Saginaw at the Mass for Freedom on Tuesday, July 1. The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, celebrated the Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Saginaw before leading a procession to Veterans Memorial Plaza.

The ceremony at Veterans Memorial Plaza was an opportunity to honor military men and women and their families for their selfless service to the United States. Bishop Cistone thanked all those who serve and called upon those present to pray that the "freedom to follow Christ" will always be protected.

A special collection was taken during the Mass for Freedom to benefit Wounded Warriors and Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors or T.A.P.S.

The Mass was celebrated during the Fortnight for Freedom.
