Funeral Mass For Father Wolfgang Streichardt

Rev. Wolfgang Streichardt, age 74, of Saginaw, Michigan, formerly of Bannister, Michigan died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at St. Francis Home in Saginaw, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, 517 East Main Street, Bannister, Michigan on 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12. Bishop Joseph R. Cistone will be presiding. Fr. Harold Sikorski will be the homilist. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 1:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service will be at 7:00 P.M. at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church led by Fr. Marcel Portelli.

Father Wolfgang Streichardt was born in 1938 in Erfurt, Germany. He was on of 11 children born to Margaret and Paul Streichardt. He lived in Germany until 1956. Wolfgang came to Canada in 1968 and attended schools in Nova Scotia from 1968-1972. He completed his theological studies at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, IL.  He was ordained a priest by the Most Rev. Ken Untener, then Bishop of Saginaw, on November 21, 1982.


Fr. Streichardt's pastoral assignments included: Associate Pastor of St. Hyacinth, Bay City;  Associate Pastor of St. James, Bay City; Temporary Administrator, Holy Family, Sebewaing; Associate Pastor of St. Michael, Oakley; Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Chesaning; Pastor of  St. John the Evangelist Parish, Peck; and Pastor of  St. Patrick Parish, Croswell.  His last pastoral assignment was as Pastor of St. Cyril, Bannister, Michigan.

Survivors include 7 brothers; Gerhart, Alois, Hermann, Thomas, Norbert, Rudolf, Bernard, and 1 sister Elisabeth.  He was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Ursula Kiel and 1 brother Gunter.
