Funeral Mass for Deacon Edward Kebblish
MIDLAND- Deacon Edward Kebblish, a permanent deacon of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at Our Lady of Grace Parish, St. Agnes Catholic Church, 2500 N. West River Rd., Sanford. The Rev. James Hast, O.F.M. Cap will be the celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd., Midland, on Sunday Nov. 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Deacon Edward will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Benya) Kebblish was born June 21, 1935 in Gray, Pa. On Jan. 28, 1956, he married the former Julia M. Zuchelli and she predeceased him in December of 2006. Deacon Edward grew up in the Western Pennsylvania area and then graduated from West Virginia University School of Mines in 1958 in Morgantown, W.Va. with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering of Mines. Deacon Edward worked for several mining companies before working at Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1989 as a mining engineer.
Deacon Edward was ordained to the Order of Deacon at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Sacrament in Detroit, Mich. on June 11, 1983. He served as a permanent Deacon for Our Lady of Victory Parish in Northville, Mich., Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Larkin Township, Mich. and Our Lady of Grace Parish, St. Agnes Church in Sanford, Mich. Deacon Edward was a member of the Father Vernon Sierminski Knights of Columbus Council #8043. Deacon Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, loved watching college football. Memorials may be offered to St. Agnes Church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
