SAGINAW — Below are some of the upcoming events that will take place across the Diocese of Saginaw. All are invited to participate. A print-friendly version of this information is available here. 

WHAT: Holy Hour for Vocations with Bishop Cistone
WHEN: 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10
WHERE: Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw
All are welcome to attend a Holy Hour for vocations with Bishop Cistone. The event is open to all young men aged 12 to 30+ and their parents. Those who’d like to learn more about the daily life of a priest and the priesthood in general are invited. All pastors and sacramental ministers are encouraged to invite young men to join in the holy hour and dinner to follow at the Center for Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw. Those attending are encouraged to bring their pastor or sacramental minister. WHAT: Holy Hour with Bishop Cistone in Rapson
WHEN: 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11
WHERE: St. Hubert Parish, St. Joseph Church, 3455 Rapson Rd., Rapson
Since January 2012, the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, has traveled to different churches throughout the diocese to lead Holy Hours before the Blessed Sacrament. During this Jubilee Year, the intention of each monthly Holy Hour will be for a deeper understanding and participation in the Mercy of God.

WHAT: Migrant Mass with Bishop Cistone
WHEN: 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14
WHERE: 2867 Cleaver Rd., Caro
The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, will celebrate an outdoor Mass with migrant families and friends. Those who would like to attend should bring lawn chairs. For more information, please call Sabrina Costilla at 989.797.6655.

WHAT: Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
WHEN: Noon on Monday, Aug. 15
WHERE: Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw
Bishop Cistone will celebrate Mass on the Patronal Feast of the Diocese of Saginaw. At this Mass, Bishop Cistone will also celebrate the Rite of Candidacy for Kevin Wojciechowski, seminarian for the Diocese of Saginaw. All are welcome!

WHAT: Basic Catechist Certification: Mission and Methods With Peg McEvoy
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15
WHERE: Diocesan Center For Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw
This all-day event for catechists will explore the mission and methods of catechesis. In the morning session, we will pray together and explore Jesus’ missionary mandate and what it means for us today as catechists. The afternoon session covers some of the basics for catechists and explores the resources and techniques available to help launch catechists into this new adventure with Jesus and his young disciples. It is offered in conjunction with “A Morning on the Mission of Catechesis” to satisfy the requirements for Basic Catechist Certification, or as a refresher for those with certification. WHAT: The Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy
WHEN: 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 17
WHERE: Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church, Kawkawlin
In celebration of the Year of Mercy, Father Jim Bessert, Father José Cabrera and Terri Grierson will share a multi-media presentation through the lenses of scripture, liturgy and the call to justice. All are welcome to attend as we continue to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy.

WHAT: Youth Retreat Day- All Saints Parish
WHEN: 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20
WHERE: All Saints Parish, St. James Church, 710 Columbus Ave., Bay City
All youth in grades 8 to12 are welcome to attend this Youth Retreat Day free of charge. Area Catholic teens will gather for Mass at 5 p.m. and then spend an evening listening to our special guest speaker, Jose Cervantes. In addition, there will be food, prizes, service projects, prayer, and a bonfire. WHAT: "Reaching Out as Christ Would" WEBINAR
WHO: All who are Involved in Parish Ministry
WHEN: 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25
WHERE: From Your Computer (Computer Speakers are Required to Hear the Webinar)
Father Frank DeSiano, CSP, President of Paulist Evangelization Ministries, will lead this one-hour webinar which is specially designed for parishes in the Diocese of Saginaw. This webinar will explore how parishes can reach out to Catholics who are either "no longer coming" or who are in the process of "walking away." Priests, deacons, pastoral administrators, pastoral ministers, pastoral associates, pastoral council members, faith formation leaders, youth ministers, parish secretaries and other parish staff are urged to register. WHAT: Marriage Preparation Workshop
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27
WHERE: Diocesan Center For Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw
This Marriage Preparation Workshop is for engaged couples preparing for marriage. Among the topics covered are: the sacrament of marriage, marriage intimacy and family planning, communication and conflict resolution, and finances. All presentations are done by professionally trained married couples or individuals. WHAT: Capernaum: The Town of Jesus with Father José Maria Cabrera
WHEN: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29
WHERE: Diocesan Center For Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw
Father Cabrera will give a presentation on the town of Capernaum, which was Jesus' “home base” during his Galilean ministry. Come and discover this exciting town and all the evidence surrounding Jesus' presence there 2000 years ago. Father Cabrera earned a Licentiate in Biblical Theology at the Gregorian University, Rome. He also spent a semester at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum of Jerusalem in 2011 with some of the Franciscan Friars that were involved in the archeological excavations of the city of Capernaum. He currently serves as the diocesan Vicar for Hispanic Ministry and as pastor of All Saints Parish in Bay City. Registration information is available by calling 989.797.6607. WHAT: Bishop’s Charity Golf Classic and Dinner for Seminarian Education (details at saginaw.org)

WHERE: Golf Classic takes place at Swan Valley Golf Course, 9521 Highland Green Dr., Saginaw

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 15 Dinner and Silent Auction
WHERE: Dinner Banquet and Silent Auction take place in Curtiss Hall at Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Rd., University Center

All are invited to join Bishop Cistone for these two fun fall events that celebrate vocations to the priesthood and raise funds for the education of future priests. Golfers tee off on Sept. 14 with morning or afternoon golf scrambles at the Swan Valley Golf Course in Saginaw. In addition to game prizes, golf tournament awards will be given to flight winners, the top Knights of Columbus team and the top co-ed team. Celebration of priestly vocations continues on the evening of Sept.15 with the Dinner Banquet & Silent Auction in Curtiss Hall on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University.
