SAGINAW- Catholics from around the diocese will gather for the second New Evangelization Summit, a two-day dynamic conference which will bring together international speakers who are leaders in the New Evangelization to provide inspiration, encouragement, training, practical wisdom and resources on how Catholics can effectively evangelize. The event will be live streamed to Saginaw from Ottawa, Canada on April 15 to 16 at the diocesan Center for Ministry.
This event will include a presentation by Father Raniero Cantalamessa, official Preacher to the Papal Household. In this capacity, he preaches in the presence of the Pope, the cardinals, bishops, and prelates of the Roman Curia and the general superiors of religious orders. This will be a unique opportunity for the faithful in Mid-Michigan to hear Father Cantalamessa live. Dr. Peter Kreeft, Sherry Weddell, Christopher West, Angele Regnier, Michael Dopp and others will also present on various evangelization-related topics. Weddell, for example, will be looking at “Parish Renewal: The Fruit of Forming Intentional Disciples,” while West will explore the connection between “Theology of the Body and the New Evangelization.” There will also be practical tools offered in sessions such as Regnier’s: “Actually Evangelizing – Best Practices in Sharing Christ so that People can Respond.”
This event will be enriching for all parishioners including parish and Catholic school leaders. Saginaw participants will join over 5000 Catholics throughout the continent as they are inspired, formed, and connected with other Catholics locally. Saginaw is one of 33 host sites across North America. Summit tickets cost $60 and can be purchased online at www.newevangelization.ca. The cost includes the Friday evening sessions, the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions, lunch and snacks. Ticket holders can come for all or part of the event.
