Summary
The diocesan Coordinator of Lay Ministry is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for Lay Ministry. The Coordinator accompanies, and oversees the formation of, those who are in the Lay Ministry Formation Program, as well as accompanying, and overseeing the ongoing formation of, lay ministers already missioned as a “Christian in the World,” or co-missioned for parish-based lay ministry.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a highly pastoral and prayerful person who is willing, and has the gifts, to closely accompany all those in Lay Ministry. She or he should be a caring, relational Catholic with a gift for assisting others to grow in their formation. Energetic, well organized and pastoral, with a deep love of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, she or he should have a heart for evangelization, and demonstrate an understanding and support of official Catholic teaching, especially as presented in the documents of Vatican II,and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Coordinator should also thoroughly grasp and support the vision reflected in the USCCB document, Co-workers in the Vineyard. She or he should have a comprehensive understanding of Adult Faith Formation and solid liturgical formation. Excellent communication skills are essential. The Coordinator of Lay Ministry should also be willing to participate in long-term planning in conjunction with other diocesan Faith Formation programming and to assist others in implementing programs.
