Part-Time Maintenance
St Thomas Aquinas Parish - Saginaw

Summary
St Thomas Aquinas has an opening for a part-time maintenance person, about 20 hours/week. Person would be responsible for maintenance, cleanliness and repair of parish facilities as well as performing various routine maintenance and repairs. Knowledge of maintenance of boilers and HVAC systems important.

Job Responsibilities:
This person would be responsible for maintenance and repair of parish facilities. They would perform a variety of facility and equipment maintenance duties including various routine maintenance and repairs that may include routine carpentry and plumbing duties based on skill level and experience. • Help with a variety of installation, repair and renovation to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures and articles.
• Installation, repair and renovation of some equipment including metal and wood equipment, electrical appliances, valves, gas stoves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, heating (HVAC & boiler systems) and cooling systems, sewer lines, irrigation sprinklers
• Rough painting and rough concrete laying and patch plastering. Removal and replacement of defective motors and valves.
• Moving and transporting furniture, books, miscellaneous items from buildings
• Empty trashcans in public areas of Church and Parish Office
• Maintain daily maintenance logs and work reports indicating time and materials used
• Be responsible for all equipment, vehicles, tools and other equipment
• Assist other areas related to overall maintenance of the system when assigned
• The above does not exhaust duties. Other duties may be requested from time to time through the immediate supervisor

Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Possess a valid state driver’s license Must be 21 years of age or older Have knowledge of procedures, practices, tools and equipment used in maintenance. Must possess ability to:

  • Move, load and unload equipment and supplies weighing 35 pounds and heavier
  • Work independently without direct supervision
  • Walk long distances around campus; bend, stoop, squat and reach; climb ladders
  • Make judgment related to emergency and safety matters

Director of Faith Formation
St. Vincent de Paul Parish - Shepherd

Summary
St. Vincent de Paul Parish has an opening for a Director of Faith Formation. The Director of Faith Formation reports to the Pastor/Pastoral Administrator. This is a year-round position, averaging 12-15 hours a week. Hours vary depending on the liturgical calendar and sacramental events, with gaps in programming during summer months. Ongoing training will be made available by the diocese and the DFF is expected to attend. This position involves daytime as well as evening and weekend hours.

Job Responsibilities:
Organize the catechetical and sacramental preparation programs for school age children. This includes recruiting students and recruiting and supporting volunteers for the preK-8th grade classes, as well as teaching a section of parent or students classes, depending on need. It also includes written communication to parents and the parish, maintaining class lists, recruiting subs and ensuring that sacraments are recorded in parish books. Plan and lead Adult Faith Formation programs, assist with RCIA and arrange for parish retreats and/or missions. Work with Pastor/Pastoral Administrator to plan calendar, order books and supplies, plan sacramental prep programs and other related events. Attend and participate in Faith Formation staff meetings, Education Commission, and parish staff meetings, so as to best provide a comprehensive coordinated program that develops the faith of the parish children and youth. Support other activities targeted at children and youth, such as whole community catechesis Vacation Bible School.

Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have:
• High level teaching skills, organizational skills needed
• Experience in parish work expected
• Must be practicing Catholic
• Must have undergone Virtus training
• Expected to have basic knowledge of theological teachings of the Church
