Covid – 19 Communication Update February 18, 2022
On February 16, 2022, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced that
the State of Michigan is entering a post-surge recovery phase of the COVID-19 cycle. We are
grateful for the grace and consideration shown to all during these challenging times.
While this announcement removes the Public Health Advisory on Masking in General Indoor
Public Settings, the wearing of masks in diocesan facilities, including our parishes and schools, is
left to the discretion of the facility leadership. Each leader and each community should evaluate,
discern, and pray on what is in the best interest of their parish and school community. No matter
what the decision is in this regard, let us continue to respect and show charity for each other as we
move forward.
Please note that Holy Communion continues to be distributed in only one form in our parishes.
Guidelines and recommendations of local health departments should be followed. We will
continue to monitor and communicate any updates as they may warrant.
