The Diocese of Saginaw has received multiple reports from members of our parishes who are getting text messages said to be from Bishop Robert Gruss and also some of our priests. The text message requests that the parishioner text back right away. When the parishioner messages back, they are asked to send a gift card to help someone in need. This is a scam. Do not respond and do not send money.
If you get a message like this, you should file a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General's Office. You have to submit the complaint in writing and can do so by clicking here. If you do not want to submit the claim electronically, contact the AG's office at 517.335.7599 and someone will mail you a form which can be filled out and returned.
