NOMINATE A TEACHER NOW - UNTIL MAY 20
This spring, the Diocese of Saginaw will celebrate the positive impact Catholic School teachers make in the lives of students, schools, and communities through the Excellence in Teaching Award.
“Our teachers are a true blessing to our students and school communities,” said Cormac Lynn, Superintendent of Catholic Schools. “They share their talents, passion, faith, and so much more everyday in the classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and beyond. This award allows us to demonstrate our admiration and appreciation of our teachers and all that they do in service of Catholic education.”
The award will be presented to a current full-time teacher who consistently displays one or more of the following characteristics:
- Modeling and promoting the Catholic faith and values through their teaching
- Making learning relevant in the lives of their students
- Creating an environment where all students can achieve success
- Contributing to the school community outside of their classroom
The recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award will receive $1,000 in appreciation for the difference she or he is making in Catholic education in the Diocese of Saginaw. Finalists will receive $500. All teachers who are nominated will be notified.

There are 2,100 students attending 13 Catholic schools across the 11-county Diocese of Saginaw. Catholic school students routinely score above state and national averages on standardized assessments. Nationally, Catholic high school students have a 99 percent graduation rate and 94 percent pursue higher education. As part of their well-rounded, faith-based education, students feed the poor, visit the elderly, raise awareness of important social issues, and serve at local charities. The legacy of Catholic school education in the Diocese began in 1868.
