World Youth Day

Every three years, millions of youth from around the globe travel to World Youth Day for the opportunity to pray with and see the Holy Father. The event, which is hosted by a different country each year, includes opportunities for young pilgrims to learn more about the Catholic faith and to be strengthened and encouraged by the faith they share with so many others from around the world. World Youth Day was instituted by Saint John Paul II in 1985, and the first official WYD was held in 1985. Many years, the Diocese of Saginaw organizes a pilgrimage and  leads a local group to travel to the international World Youth Day.
