Dozens of High School Students Volunteer in Saginaw

SAGINAW- Dedication to service motivated more than 40 students to trade in their first full week of summer vacation to help others. The high schools from across the Diocese of Saginaw participated in a week-long service camp called Youth Encounter Service (Y.E.S.). Youth and leaders' work along Ezra Rust Avenue in Saginaw included painting siding and walls, repairing porches and roofs and replacing windows. Sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, Y.E.S. allows high school students to learn about and fight poverty through the perspective of Catholic social teaching. Participants stayed at St. Stephen Parish Center in Saginaw, where evening activities included guest speakers, prayer and reflection.
