Father Noel T. Rudy's Funeral Mass to be Celebrated on Thursday, November 10

Fr-Noel-Rudy-1478519645SAGINAW — The Rev. Noel T. Rudy, 89, a senior priest of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, died Saturday, November 5, 2016. Father Rudy was born October 23, 1927 in Newton, Iowa, to the late John and Mildred (Meewes) Rudy. He received his elementary education at St. Andrew Catholic School in Saginaw.

Father Rudy began his priestly formation at St. Joseph Seminary in Grand Rapids and continued formation at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, and St. John's Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 1953 by the Most Rev. Bishop Stephen S. Woznicki, the second Bishop of Saginaw.

Father Rudy served as pastor at St. Edward Catholic Church, Omer; Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Shields; Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe; St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Shepherd; St Andrew Catholic Church, Saginaw; St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Clare; St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Reese; St. Mark Catholic Church, AuGres and as Sacramental Minister at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison. He was a member and Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council. His appointments included Diocesan Senate of Priests, Diocesan Personnel Committee, Clergy Benefit Society, Diocesan Pastoral Council and Coordinator of the Saginaw Diocese Golf Team.

Father Rudy's Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 10 at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw, Michigan. The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, will preside and Rev. Frederick J. Kawka will be the homilist.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 9 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and a Vigil for the Deceased, led by Rev. Ronald F. Wagner, will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the church.
