Local Vacation Bible School Brings Together Over 150 Children and 60 Youth Volunteers

SAGINAW- Local Catholic parishes sponsored a vacation bible school from July 20 to 24 where approximately 150 children attended, while about 60 youth in grades seven through 12 volunteered to help lead the small groups. Children traveled in groups as one of the 12 Tribes of Israel making several stops throughout the week: to visit a synagogue school led by a "rabbi" acted each day by different members of the local clergy dressed in costume; to stop by Mary's home, hosted by storyteller Nancy Nizinski; to shop in the marketplace at the carpenter's shop, the jewelry shop, the fruit and vegetable shop, and the bakery. They also went to the petting zoo which featured sheep, goats, and a donkey.
