SAGINAW — The Most Rev. Walter A. Hurley, apostolic administrator for the Diocese of Saginaw, will celebrate a special Mass on the 46 anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22. The Mass will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw. The “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children” is being observed in dioceses across the United States of America.

“I urge you to join me in praying for an end to abortion, and to renew your commitment to protect and respect all human life from the moment of conception to natural death,” Bishop Hurley said. “May we remain mindful of the millions of lives that have been destroyed by abortion and its traumatic and sorrowful effects on countless women and men.”

All are invited to the Cathedral and encouraged to participate in the Mass. A live stream also will be available on the diocesan website and Facebook page for those unable to join in person.

“We remain encouraged by the faithful witness of pro-life Catholics throughout the Diocese of Saginaw and beyond who are committed to the ministry of prayer, penance and acts of charity,” said Lori Becker, Respect Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Saginaw.
